Abstract:

An insight and special attention should be paid to sanitary and environmental problems because of boomin population and increasing development in cities due to advanced technology . The population density growth forces us to think of new methods with higher efficiency, lower volume and ability to be upgraded as for as capacity is concerned. In this project, we firstly tried to analyze the Contact Stabilization system and then, by explaining the procedure of sewerage treatment and elaborating on Extended Aeration, we compared mentioned systems from the economical, volumetric and efficiency point of view. At first, samples were prepared from inlet, outlet, contact pound, stabilization pound and returned sludge in Contact Stabilization system and experiments related to desired parameters of the samples were carried out in Tehran Sahebgharanieh laboratory. Eventually, the functionality of this system was studied by sketching the specific parameter changes in special plots. We also analyzed installed Lamella (plate separating system) on the settlement pounds that showed appropriate efficiency in settlement of biological flocculation and decreased TSS. In order to compare the Contact Stabilization system with Extended Aeration, the results and data that were carried out on inlet, outlet and aeration pound of the Extended Aeration system in 1992 were used and functionality of the system was studied. According to the analyzes of the experiments carried out in this research, it was shown that the Contact Stabilization system provide us with a higher efficiency compared to Extended Aeration system, because of the time spent on biological treatment done on the sewerage. Moreover, use of Contact Stabilization system is more suitable for polluted sewerage from the economical point of view.
