Abstract:

Heavy metals have an important role in environmental pollution. They enter to the sea from coastal zones and rivers. They accumulate in aquatic organism’s body from food chain. Anzali wetland ecosystem absorbs a lot of toxic and hazardous metals (heavy metals) and reduces entrance pollution to Caspian Sea. So Anzali wetland is a protected and supported system for Caspian Sea. In order to assessment and measurement Mercury concentration in sediment samples collected at 6 station in west and east part of international Anzali wetland in summer 2005. Samples were analyzed with Leco AMA 254 Mercury Analyzer after providing. Average concentration of mercury in sediment was 103.8±16.3ppb in the west part and 50.1±12.7 ppb respectively. To compare the other sites, results showed that the highest values of Hg (avg122.92, max127.947) are near the Pirbazar river. Because of urban and domestic effluents from Anzali and Rasht towns, agricultural, commercial and industrial activities affect this part of the wetland. These wastewaters directly and without treatment fall in wetland by Pirbazar river and finally enter to Caspian Sea. In conclusion, for conservation of biological conditions and reduction of pollution some laws must be determined and controlled by relative organization.…………………………………………………………...
