Abstract:

Formaldehyde is a known environmental pollutant that is commonly monitored by most environmental organization. Formaldehyde is used in preparation of dyes, in production of Bakelite and other plastic and synthetic resins, and other purposes such as wood preservatives. This method describes an analytical procedure for determination of formaldehyde in Environmental aqueous samples. The water samples are first derivitaized with 2,4-DNPHi, then extracted with dichloromethane. The extract is concentrated and analyzed with HPLC using ODS zorbax column and Uv detector.
