Abstract:

Importance aquatic ecosystem in Iran is the north shores of Persian Gulf that it has been polluted by a wide rang of pollutant matters such as oil transition , gulf wars and the different industrial. This study was designed to measure mercury concentration in 5 species of shrimps in Persian golf as a bioindicator. This study was conducted on 43 shrimp (Penaeus semisulcatus) that collected from 5 sampling sites (Bandar abbas, Hormoz, Bahrekan, Babdar Deyir and Gonavah). The concentration of mercury was measured by Leco AMA 254 analyzer that calibrated with standard method ASTM D 6729 via auto select. The concentration of mercury was reported as Mean+SD. P value <0.05 with 95% confidence interval was considered significant. The mean concentration of mercury in muscles of this species was 0.4+449 mg/kg. the mean concentration of mercury in Penaeus semisulcatus from 5 sampling sites were different . Bandar abbas samples had the most mercury concentrations . We suggest that Water circulation in Persian gulf can be consider as important mechanism of pollution in Bandar abbas .
