Abstract:

Considering the increasing market demand of clays in pharmaceutical preparation , new aspects of clay ingestion and inhalation must be regarded . distribution of hazardous chemical elements into organs has been considered (As , Cd , Pb , Se , Te , Ti , Hg and Sb) as previous studies documented the entering of trace elements into bloodstream . The aim of this study is to measure the amount of this hazardous elements in clay samples of Torab deposit and the hazardous aspects of inhaling the quartz particles of this clay soil (siclosice) . By comparing the mineralogical and chemical analysis results of Torab clay and common clays which are now uses in pharmacy , we can find the possibility of using this clay in pharmaceutical preparation. in this study we have used XRD, XRF, ICP methods for mineralogical and geochemical analysis and Atterberg limits for measuring the mechanical properties of the soil. As a result , according to the kind of clay minerals and the amount of hazardous chemical elements , Torab clay soil is considered as a proper clay for pharmacological purposes. The amount of crystalline quartz in this clay soil is high. dispersion of this crystalline quartz can cause environmental pollutions. Adding a little amount of water to the clay soils (AWC) is a proposed solution in this paper for decreasing the environmental pollutions of crystalline quartz of this soil.
