Abstract:
the results of a finite element study have been demonstrated in this paper . Subjecting to near fault ground motions having long period with great accelerations the models releases much more energy and have significant situation in comparison to other earthquakes. in RC buildings frames and shear walls are main structural components in resisting the lateral loads . this investigation is focused on the column shapes to be utilized as control displacement components of the building which are constructed in near fault areas. in order to investigate the effect of columns shapes under near fault ground motion records time history analysis is performed in three different types of earthquake records and two tall reinforced concrete buildings with 10-and 15-stories.
