Abstract:
Recently the use of distributed generation (DG) units and shunt capacitor (SC) for loss reduction in distribution systems have become a comprehensive case . Not only inattention to fix size and location of installation of dispersed generation and Shunt capacitors units will not help to reduction of losses, but also it may causes increase of system’s losses. In this paper, optimal location and sizing of DG and SC units using particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is discussed for loss reduction in distribution electricity network. Finally, the effect of DG and SC in loss reduction are compared. The comparsion is made on an actual distribution system. It is concluded when both DG and SC are used the losses are reduced consideablly.
