Abstract:
The accurate determination of fault location in high voltage power cables has always been one of the important apprehensions of distribution networks operators due to its time consuming procedure and expensive equipment requirement. In this paper an intelligent method, Fuzzy system has been presented in fault type detection and classification. The currents of phases have been taken into account as inputs of Fuzzy system. Using three phases’ currents, fault type can be determined and implementing currents and voltages, the accurate fault location can be detected. The discussed method has been examined on an XLPE insulated 230 kV high voltage cable. The estimated error in this case study was 1.48%.
