Strategic Planning for Disaster Medicine in Iran

Abstract:

Disaster epidemiology reveals epidemic increases in incidence of disasters. While the literature on disaster management has expanded rapidly in recent decades, the medical societies have mate few assessments of their role in disaster medicine. This paper is an observational study that profiles disaster medicine and associated specialties, disaster epidemiology, and administrative levels of disaster management in Iran and also points out recent technology and potential progresses in disaster medicine.there are opportunities for increased involvement of specialists in emergency medicine at all levels of Iran disaster management. Disaster medicine is represented by individuals of variable experience who make themselves knows and available. Irans relatively high incidence of disasters provides the opportunities for medical community to develop expertise in this field. Emergency physicians are in a position to lead medical specialty advances in disaster medicine in Iran . to optimize their impact in disaster medicine, the specialty and its college should have, opportunities for advances in inter institutional representation, disaster preparedness and planning, disaster relief operations, applied clinical research, and faculty development.
