Abstract:

Undesirable behavior pf previously designed buildings on the basis of former code in recent earthquakes has arisen debates over strengthening of significant buildings. The most important pace in strengthening such buildings is precise evaluation of present status and determination of weak points pf buildings. A clear and sensible evaluation method which has recently been much considered is performance- based evaluation. According this fact that various researches demonstrated that, in seismic response of structures, the subject of force- displacement can not solely justify the entire seismic behavior (s) of structures, thus, according to the development of energy methods use, in this study energy concepts have been regarded in performance level evaluation of frames as well. In the current study, frames of the concrete structure of S.C. telecom building has been evaluated on the basis of performance level under two distinct earth quakes and with non-linear dynamic method and the weak points of the building were determined. In this paper, existing enervations of one frame have been exemplified. As will be shown, the major weakness of this building is accordant to the soft stores at the lowest floor so that , before the appearance of considerable damage in higher stories, the structure will be over tured due to the weak story.
