Moving From Crisis Management to Risk Management in USA and our vision or future work

Abstract:

Iran is one of countries that lacks existance of reasonable drought management plans. Fortunately, few positive activities have been conducted after the country wide 1377-١٣٨٠ drought. However they are not enough, well coordinated and categorized as crisis management. So, it is necessary to develop practical and suitable drought plans based on the country conditions and experiences of other nations that have already worked in this area. USA is one of those countries that have long history in challenging drought where this disaster hits continuously the country. The objective of this paper is to review experiences of USA in facing and managing droughts, and look to the methodologies that are being used for this purpose as well. Also, few points has been recommended for shifting to risk management.
