Flood Mitigation by Using Flood Spreading Methods

Abstract:

Flood is one of the natural disasters that results in abundant life and financial damages. So, it must be controlled. In this paper, it is tried that flood spreading was investigated as one of the effective methods for flood mitigation. Generally there are two methods for flood spreading that is divided into 1. flood method 2. dismembered method. Also, on the basis of the type of work and system objective, flood spreading projects are divided into several categories. In arid areas with several hour to several day freshets, it can be done into two methods, 1. Dyke, 2. Pond while in arid areas with 3-4 month river flows and occasional flashets, the other methods can be done such as controlling system, rotational method and… . that are investigated in this paper in details.
