Investigation and Management of Natural Disasters and Probable Damages of Shafaroud Dam Break

Abstract:

Disasters are natural events that because of their sudden essence, aren’t in human control and regarding to potentially of their desolation, cause to the financial and lateral damages. Flood in one pf the most important of them which has more ability to control and management rather than earthquake before its events. By the way’ technical discussions and alternations on solve the problems and challenges in water industry of Iran specially in floods, are very important. Advantages of rivers right-of-way and its vital role in human life, caused to human accept flood damages for years. So natural disasters management has been very important study, specially flood discussions. Regarding to existence of activated faults in case study zone and fault on axis of Shafaroud dam, between Astara fault and Shalm fault, the axis of dam are exposed to serious crazing especially in left abutment of it while caused to landslide in this region. Crazing and weathering decrease the stability of rock mass in left slop of abutment and increase the potential of dangerous landslide on the reservoir. So study of this disaster is very important. In this paper we consider the foundation of Shafaroud dam and study of last natural disasters on this dam. Then assessment of probable damages, crisis management plans, intelligent and remote control and instrumentation and warning systems are considered and at the end of this paper economic-environmental analysis and alternations for optimization of risk management has been presented.
