Abstract:

Drought is a Climatological and hydrological phenomenon which has extreme and creeping characteristics Its recurrence is inevitable and produces many economical and social Losses in affected regions. The direct and indirect damages of drought depending on it’s intensity ‚duration and the range of area which covered.we can reduce of damages by using suitable methods That are different to evaluate drought so each one have own characteristic. In this paper drought was studied based on Mashhad climatological data from 1951 to 2005 and the results comprised with together . The indexes were applied are percentage of normal(PN)‚ Standard deviation (SD)‚ Classification of Precipitation(CP)‚ Standard distribution (Z.Score) and Deciles. Analysis cleared applied importance of the indexes for purpose of quantifying drought’ s component in Mashhad. Results Showed that during the mentioned period drought frequency With weak intensity are more than the other groups‚ so. For drought analyzing the results obtained of all indexes (except of C.P.Index ) nearly were equal but from accuracy point of view the Deciles and z.score are more suitable. So , we can use of moving averages to predict drought occurrence due to its high rate of calculatinge.
