Drought and Economic and Social Disaster in Watershed (Case study;Azaran basin, Kashan)

Abstract:

Drought is a natural phenomenon which may occurs in any climatological conditions. Different definition for drought have been presented but, each one considers only one or some of its aspects. because of we cant change amount of rain,the best way for decrease economic and social disaster is water management such as runoff and ground water. Azaran basin is located in south Kashan city and maximum elevation in this basin is 3400m, mean elevation is 2782 m. average of rainfall in this area is 207 mm and rainfall is changed between 185-250mm in this region. maximum temperature is 35.5 and minimum is 22.5. Azaran basin contains 4 villages: Azaran, Arenjan, Pandas and Varkan. Most of people in Azaran basin are farmer (about 70-85%). Azaran basin has 586.5 ha farm land and these lands need water about 5390000m 3 /year. when drought occurs farmers have to leave this area because they don’t have water for irrigation . Therefor drought make many social and economic problem in Azaran basin.
