Abstract:

According to the mine plan, mining in the Sarcheshmeh copper deposit is passing from twenty years plan to expansion plan. Regarding to increase in production capacity, haulage route length and depth of mine in the expansion plan, selection of a suitable transportation system for costs reduction purposes is necessary. Also, regarding to the haulage route length and increasing in haulage cycle time, usage of in pit crusher and belt conveyor is inevitable. Planning of such a system needs determining of ore size distribution. In this research, determination of ore size distribution was conducted as the first step of grizzly installation possibility consideration into the pit and transportation of ore using belt conveyor. The aim of this investigation was to reduce the haulage costs by replacing the belt conveyor truck with in some parts of the mine. For determining of the ore size distribution, the image analysis technique was used. The photographs of surface of bench faces were analysed and the results were illustrated by size distributions graphs of ore. The results of image analysis showed that the D80 of all three types of blasted rocks is between 15-20 cm and its transportation with belt conveyor is possible. Crushing and hauling of the rest of the 20% oversize by truck is an important subject for a future research. Based on the results of this investigation, almost 20% of ore that its dimensions are more than 20 cm, needs a primary crushing and by screening of the ore and separation of particles less than 20 cm, the costs of crushing will be reduced.
