Abstract:

Estimating the degree of rock fragmentation in mine blasting in order to judge about the efficiency of blast is essential. There are several methods to determine the degree of rock fragmentation by blasting, which the most recent method is the image analysis. In this study, the GoldSize software based on image analysis, using the KUZ-RAM model, was used to compare the results obtained with the results obtained based on the screen analysis to validate the results. Samples from Sarcheshmeh copper mine were used to carry out the research. Three samples of 1, 4.5 and 13.5 tone were prepared to consider the effect of tonnage variation on the image analysis results. In the second step of this research, the effects of sampling method on the image analysis result was carried out. A sample of one tone was imaged in the form of massive and expanded. In the third step of the research, samples of waste were taken to consider the rock type effects on the image analysis results. Three samples of the 2.5, 8 and 11 tones were taken from a face. The results obtained indicated that by increasing the rock size of both samples (waste and ore types), the results of image analysis will be closer to the results gained from screen analysis. Also, by increasing the weight of the sample, the error percentage of image analysis incre ased compared to screen analysis. In addition, in massive image analysis, the error percentage increased, compared to the expanded samples. The results obtained showed that to reduce the error due to fine materials in image analysis, the expanded imaging method is better than massive imaging method.
