Abstract:

One of the outcomes of a good blasting is suitable fragmentation. The study of fragmentation and relative sizes of each blasting not only reduces the cost of secondary blasting but also has effect on loading and haulage process. A good blasting with suitable fragmentation will affect the mining operation and reduction the total cost of mining and increases the production efficiency. Prediction of dimension of fragmented rocks and estimation of fragmentation distribution are very important factors in selecting the mining equipment and its operation. Until now different methods have been used for this purpose such as the use of mathematical models by Dinis and Gama, Larson, Kuz-Ram, Rosin-Rammler and SveDeFo. In this paper, on the basis of the blasting done in Sangan mine, the distribution of fragmented rocks dimensions was calculated and the results have been compared with mathematical models. The study shows that because Kuz-Ram model consider more important factors, thus more suitable results for prediction of fragments dimensions will be obtained by this model.
