Operational Cost Estimation of Surface Rock Excavation

Abstract:

In Iran, most of the projects related to the mining and civil engineering sectors deal with surface excavation, which normally carried out using blasting techniques. Although in B.O.Q (bill of quantities) of such contracts no unit price is concerned, but the real number of the costs for the excavation accomplishment of these excavations depending on the conditions and aims, is different. Therefore it is necessary to estimate the cost rate and compare them with the unit price. The contractors should concern about these matters in their economical estimations. In this paper it is tried to show the methods of cost estimation in an executive operation according to the current excavation norms in the civil works (especially in studying the different works like Gotvand dam project). In this estimation all of the executive operations in the open excavations is concerned and the costs of these operations based on the current fees has been set separately. From the two different methods, the unit prices of the operation at the time of open blasting for excavation or material production has been prepared separately.
