Abstract:

Estimation of trucks fleet size in order to increase and continue the trend of production is important and necessary. At present, the trucks fleet service time in Gole-e-Gohar Iron Ore Company is more than their actual life time and their maintenance costs increased in the recent years. The percentage of mechanical availability was 40% in the year 2004 and their efficiency decreased to an amount of 53%. In order to calculate the new trucks fleet, at first, actual cycle time was measured and then based on the five years mine plan and the tonnage for each bench, the total trucks required have been calculated. The results are shown that 13 trucks are needed with 85% of mechanical availability, ability to remove 13.5 Mt ore and waste yearly. The required investment is estimated $10.6 million. The economical studies of the project show an Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 42% and Break Even Point of 41%.
