Abstract:

Exceeding of groundwater head from 35 m in bench 10th and having the waste water discharge of 45 m3/s, caused an increase in the cost of the associated blasting. Reduction of water tables beneath the pit floor by deep wells, may be accomplished either with dewatering wells located within the pit or behind the pit walls or with combination of them. The following benefits may be derived from an efficient dewatering system: of water table in blast holes, reduction of operating costs, saline water demand of ore dressing plant and refining by water treatment facilities. Based on the results of geological, structural features and hydrogeological results investigation and the available data, 7 trial dewatering wells were recommended. It is common to use data from well tests carried out for water supply or groundwater control purposes to determine permeability or as long term monitoring locations.
