Abstract:

Choghart as one of the largest Iron ore mines of the region suffers from an old fleet handling system because of which nearly 68 percent of loading and hauling of mine products, according to the scheduling of the year 1383, has been left to the private sector. In this paper performance of Choghart mine transportation system has been studied by simulation technique using ARENA. ARENA is a powerful object-oriented simulation software with which modeling is performed based on process interaction approach. After modeling the existing transportation system and evaluating its performance, potentiality of production increase using active loading equipments as well as unit production costs has been investigated under the extended model. In addition, optimum number of trucks has been determined for each case by changing input parameters of the model and its adaptation to the consequently arised states such as substitution of trucks with different capacities along with different combinations of shovel-truck, assuming extension of mine operations in dipper levels. Moreover, with application of a mechanism in order to route the trucks using dispatching approach, in above mentioned models; effect of this optimum trucks route on the production rate and its costs has been studied.
