Research as Main Axis to Develop Open Pit Mines in This Century

Abstract:

In this paper, problems facing extraction optimization in open pit mines are evaluated and then different research titles are suggested to solve the above mentioned problems. For this purpose, the research targets in the national scale are suggested and then, different research titles are proposed to catch the mentioned targets. For example, cost minimization, reduction in fuel consumption for unit of extracted minerals, reduction in fatalities and increasing safety, establish a reasonable relationship between private and governmental sectors and reduction in environmental problems found to be main research targets. Also there are many research subtitles in this regard. From the assessment done in this paper, it was concluded that for a steady state in open pit mine activities, the research must be considered as the main axis. To catch the main target, it is necessary to scheduling the research works. To follow of an applicable strategy, meetings must be arranged between researches of all sectors to find out the best direction for the future of research works in Iran.
