A Study of Safety Indices at Gol-e-Gohar Iron Ore Complex

Abstract:

Preparation of the work accident statistics and its investigation and analysis are the effective actions to define accident nature, causes and results. Obviously, this accident definition is the main factor to reoccurrence prevention. In this paper the accidents that have accured at Gol-e-Gohar Iron Ore Complex between the years 1370 to 1382 have been investigated statistically. Frequency rate, severity rate and incidence rate have been calculated and type, cause, time and place of accident and years of employment of hurts have been investigated statistically. Concerning to these studies, maximal accidents were occurred in 1380 with frequency rate of 10.4 and extreme accidents were occurred in 1379 with severity rate of 4154. Types of accidents are mainly people and objects fall and owing to imprudence and disregard of safety principles. These accidents occurred mostly on day shift, on bound of processing plant and beginners and unpracticed workers were the accident-prone staff. Finally, concerning to these results, were suggested ways to decrease accident numbers, and safety improvement and prevention of foreseeable accident at Gol-e-Gohar iron ore complex.
