Abstract:

One of the ways of flood control is channel modification that decreases water level at selected cross sections. In this research, NEKA River was selected for flooding area. The purpose of this report is to evaluate fluvial, sediment transport, and geomorphic changes in the NEKA River resulting from channel modification. The FLUVIAL-12 model was selected to predict these changes. Field data are used for calibration of a model. By using HEC-RAS software ability, channel modification has been, then the effect of modification was determined on parameter such as sediment delivery, bed profile, water level and changes in channel geometry. The result shown for 100-yr flood, Water-surface elevations for the proposed conditions are generally low. Changes in bed elevation are low and show alone in river at kilometer 1.2, bed erosion for increase of flow velocity. Sediment delivery from upstream to kilometer 1.2 is less than the existing condition. In other words erosion of channel boundary is low, and then increases toward downstream.
