Assising Sediment Transport and Erosion Mechnism of Bahmanshir River

Abstract:

Erosion and sediment transport is one of the complicated issues in Hydrodynamics that has specific important in water projects studies . since damages to the nature , agriculture and water structures established on rivers that are caused by the river sediment s are very serious , its very necessary to study , them . in order to prevent or minimize damages, 3 process of sediments should should be studied . these processes has specific complexity because many factors are in infiuesential in their occurrence. In the present study, sediment transport and erosion of Bahmanshir river was assessed. Bahmanshir river with 80 km length is situated in the furthest point of southwest Iran between 30° To 30°, 25' N latitude and 48° , 13' To 48°, 43' E longitude. This river branches from karun river at a point between Abadan and Khuramshahr island which is called Hafar: In the present study by studying water level and discharge variations measured in different stations and also suspended load concentration variation and identifying sediment type in different reaches of the river sediment transport and erosion mechanism was assessed
