Abstract:

In this paper and in a segment of 35 kilometers length of the Karoon river, the results of Hec-Ras model which has a lot of advantages like being in hand for free , and being performed in windows softwere environment and also easy model – making , has been compared to the model Milk11, that in the case the results were acceptable it will prevent spending lots of time and money. Therefore after analyzing data, it was concluded that in a steady model of Hec-Ras average of numbers variance in water surface in 50 cross section with return period of 100 years is in the order of 0.87 meters (equal to 8.2%) and for the case of unsteady model of Hec-Ras is computed to be in the order of 0.37 meter (equal to 4%) higher than the result obtained from Milk 11 model. The sensitivities analysis of Hec-Ras model to manning coefficient index, contraction index and expansion index, and energy gradient were studied and it was found that the water surface profile is more sensitive to the manning coefficient.
