Abstract:

In this study to investigate the efficiency of two empirical model, rational method and SCS artificial unit hydrograph in watershed with no data, first peak flood with return periods of 2 to 100 years were estimated. Then by using 37 year data of Pasposhteh hydrometric station, the peak observed flood with different return periods were calculated by using residual sum of squares and SMADA software. To compare and determining statistical differences between estimated peak flow in empirical methods with observed data, F-test and Tukky`s test at 95% level was used. The results show that there is significant differences between empirical and observed data. The result also show that using SCS and rational method to estimated peak flow has not enough efficiency in this watershed and similar areas.
