Abstract:

The performance of permeable piling groyne are investigated in an experimental model by changing the number and arrangement of piles. The piles installed in a concrete canal covered by sand in bed. The dimension of the canal is 21 m in length, 0.77 m wide and 0.6 m in depth. The length of each groyne field is 60 cm. the groyne model is consisting a set of steel rods hanged on a 30 cm in length plate in various distances and arrangements. The rods have 30 cm length, 10 mm diameter and perpendicular to the flow direction. The effect of groynes on control of erosion and sedimentation of canal bed are evaluated by detecting the bed profile drawn in SURFER. The altering in bed profile and thickness are measured by Sand Surface Meter WH-406.
