Abstract:

Determination of design flood has not a overall and uniform method or international standard. Nowdays, design flood usually is defined as Probable Maximum Flood (PMF) or based on frequency analysis observed floods. Probable Maximum Flood is chosen as design flood of dam spillway due to its frequency is approximately equal to zero. If there are no considerable social and economical benfites in downstream of dam, adoption of great expenses related to these exterm confidence coefficient is unnecessary, and spillway can be designed for passing floods that are smaller than PMF. So, Methods which balance construct cost and expected damage have been presented to optimize designing. Here, Four methods are used for again designing of of pishin dam spillway. This dam is constructed on Sarbaz river. Results have been shown that integrated studies must be done about to presentation the best method that engineers apply uniformly. In this way, both safty and avoiding of unnecessary costs can be supplied.
