Abstract:

This paper has briefly talked about the main design point of the diversion dams including spillway and stilling basin parts, based rock-cement on hydrologic information. In this way, different static and hydrodynamic loads in different conditions (normal, abnormal, and extreme loads) were considered. Then uplift forces at spillway and stilling basin were calculated, by an approximate method. The procedure of slab thickness calculating in the stilling basin under imposed forces was described in detail. In addition, basin length and its walls height were computed based on hydraulic jump depth. Stability of spillway against sliding and overturning, also take into account. Finally, application difficulty and possible damage at the rock-cement diversion dams, mentioned and some techniques were proposed to cover the problems.
