Abstract:

Sediment transport issues have always been an interesting topic for engineers and practitioners. Different methods have been applied for solution of sediment problems that result in different experimental equations by experts. These results are very different from observed data, however, regarding to limited measurement of sediment load in the rivers, we can use these equations to estimate suspended load. Estimation of sediment load and sediment transport capacity in rivers is very essential in all of the river engineering projects. For using these equations in Iran, we should calibrate and select optimum, because they their usually computed in experimental and climate conditions of other countries. In this paper we collect data of dally discharge and measured sediment load in determined stations, then compute suspended sediment load for different water elevation by two major methods –Hydrologic (observed data) and Hydraulic methods (experimental and empirical equations)- then by comparison of these results and investigation of their behaviors and effective factors, select the appropriate equation for each stations and after calibration of optimum equation, compute the final optimum equation with calibration coefficient for estimating the suspended load in Ghezelozan river.
