Abstract:

So far many relationships have been presented for estimating flow velocity profile. One of the significant relationships in this context is log-law velocity distribution. Karman constant is an essential coefficient in this relationship. Ovservation show that for clear water the value of this coefficient is 0.4, but it decreases by increasing sediment concentration in river. This paper describes applying the various relationships used for estimating flow velocity profile and variability of Karman coefficient due to suspended sediment flux. This coefficient has been obtained using the log-law velocity distribution presented by wang(2001) and measured data. Finally the obtained profiles from log-law velocity distribution with modified Karman coefficient has been compared with the corresponding measured data and the other velocity distribution relationships, that get from another relations.
