Abstract:

Deposition of the sediment along the access channel of Mared pum station, the largest station in Iran, has now become a problem and any research on sediment transport could be useful. This research study had been carried out to introduce a suitable dispersion and sediment transport model applying for the access channel of Mared pump station and from there it would be possible to estimate sedimentation along the channel. Five cross sections along the channel were provided and sediment concentrations and depth of channel at three of them. (inlet centre and outlet) were daily measured during 215 days. FASTER model was applied and since its source was available it would possible to add three different dispersion models including: Ficher, Kashefipour and Seo and Vheong, and three sediment transport models including: Von Rijn, Kashefipour and Englund – Hanssen to the FASTER . in this paper different combinations of these models were identified ad RM1 to RM9. the model result were compared with the corresponding measured values using five statistical parameters including: RMS , SE, E, b and R. Comparison of the result showed no significant difference in transport models, however , the Fisher dispersion model results showed better correlation with the corresponding measured values.
