Abstract:

In this research for determination of the most suitable method for estimating the suspended sediment in Ghazaghly hydrometric station which is located on Gorgan river,3595 data of flow discharge and sediment discharge during years of 1971-2003 accumulated and analyzed. By correlation between flow discharge and sediment discharge on basis of 5 methods: linear, multi linear, median of groups, seasonal and monthly, the best model for prediction on basis of statistic indexes, was selected. Finally estimated values from various models, compared with measured ones. For comparing the estimated sediment with observed one, the statistic index, relative mean of error, was used. Results show that median limit of data median of groups in comparison with the other tested models, have the minimum mean of square errors and therefore have the best ability for prediction of sediment transport for above mentioned hydrometric station.
