Abstract:

This study was conducted to evaluated the relationship between peak discharge of flood and some physiological characteristics of upward sub-basing of Karun Basin drainage. After controlling and obviating the missing data, 6-probability distribution functions were fitted to the set of data. The pireson type III distribution gave the best result to majority of basins. Daily peak discharges were predicted for retune period of 2 to 1000 years, based on the selected probability distribution function . A set correlation equations showed exiting satisfactory relations between the physiological characteristics and daily peak discharge. The results shown that 1)in making aforementioned correlation, linear regression is more suitable than non-linear regression 2) basin area and length of stream flow have the most effects on flood discharge.
