Dams impacts on changing of river's geomorphology processes in semi-arid regions Case study:Garangoo , s catchments ,eastern of Sahand Mt(NW IRAN)

Abstract:

Rivers are dynamic features of the landscape ,whose characteristics vary over time and space with related to the changes in environmental controls and human impacts.This changes transferred to drainge , s segments and ultimately to all drainages system.Dams,as man made structures, have major impacts on river hydrology ,primarily in river pattern and all parts of drainage basins.The changes on geomorphological processes due to damming on rivers, causes of increases amount of sediments, changing in location of deposition and erosiotion front and changing in cross and longitude river profile ,are major examples of this effects.This changes is rapid and major .Engineers and designers of hydrological structures is interested to study and building dams in rivers of Sahand,s catchments .In this parts of country many dam's with vary goals ,are built dam on rivers .Unfortunately hasty decided and unaware about geomorphological ,biological and ecological outcomes due to building dams, is responsible the occurrence problems in study area .In this article is studied the outcomes of dams building in semi-arid catchments and is analyzed changes on channels of rivers in Garangoo , s catchments.
