Abstract:

Studying the characteristic entrainment of density currents in reservoirs and seawaters is of outmost important. In the present study, a saline solution as an undiposable density current was used in order to study the mizing extent of density currents and a stagnent water body. The purpose at this stage was to calculate the extent of the entrainment and analyzing the effects of divergence angle variations at a divergent section. Experiments were performed in a 6m long flume with the height of .6m and a width of .725 , with various discharge and slopes and to developer was used. In some experiments , depending on the density current inflow and bed solpe of the divergent section a hydraulic jump was observed that was studied and the results are presented accordingly.
