Abstract:

Of considerable importance to design of intake structures in river and quantitative prediction of suspended sediment in the knowledge of vertical distribution of suspended matter under different conditions. in this research, using field data the vertical distribution equation for suspended sediment concentration due to Rouse, tanaka-sajimuto and mctigue are investigated. The field data were obtained from measurement in southern part of Karoon River. The measurement was conducted at various locations through the cross section in vertical and horizontal direction by point integration method. The values of exponent z obtained from Rouse equation are plotted against the corresponding value of z taken from other equations. In this graph three separate zone are distinguished (z1).in spite of these zone, there is no noticeable different between above equations. However, one can calibrate the Rouse equation and use it for practical purposes. The Rouse equation for vertical distribution of suspended sediment concentration is simpler than others in use. In this study the Z value in the Rouse equation varies from 0.03 to 1.
