Abstract:

This paper is devoted to illustrating new wavelet analysis method in the field of hydrology. New wavelet indicators are applied to long – term hydrological proxies. Wavelet analysis remains unknown in the field of hydrology even though it clearly overcomes the well-know limits of the classical Fourier analysis . the widely used fourier transforms is designed foe stationary signals consisting of a linear superposition of linear, independent , and non – evolving periodictites . however , this treatment is not well suited for data, which involves transient processes. Focusing on hydrology, signal flunctuations are highly unstationary and physical processes often operate under a large range of scale varying from one day to several decades. Wavelet analysis has been developed in order to provide in order to provide a performing analyzing tool for this kind of signal. In this paper a multiresolution continuous wavelet analysis methods in shown to significantly improve the determination of the temporal – scale structure of a given signal. This method is applied to zayanderud and kuhrang rivers monthly discharges.
