Abstract:

This paper setout application of statistics in Geomechanical classification of rocks “ Rock Mass Rating, RMR “ . Due to the existence of complex joint patterns , and variety of nature, mechanicalbehavior of jointed rock masses usually exhibit scale effects and anisotropic properties. In 1973 Bieniawski estabilished a geomechanical classification that has six parameter. The first part of the paper shows how to build statistical model for RMR. The secoind part discusses about probability of failure of a structure and at the end probability verctor and model of this vector for RMR is presented.
