Abstract:

Hydraulic hammer can be used in many ways, such as breaking up oversized boulders in a quarry, primary break and secondary break (substitute secondary explosive) in rock mass, breaking up foundations, road construction and underground works. In the recent years excavating in mining underground tunnels have been one of the most applications. Hydraulic hammers, especially, in urban, non-mining tunnels that explosive is limited or forbidden (because of the safety and environmental consideration) have had special applications. Also, in the cases that there is not enough explosive technology, materials and experiences use the hammer is preferable. This paper has a review to the hydraulic hammer and its use in tunneling and investigates some of its parameters.
