Abstract:

Tehran – shomal Freeway project is the largest construction project in the country at present. Taloun tunnel with almost 5km length is one of the longest tunnels in this project. Studies showed that a combination of longitudinal and semi – transverse ventilation is the most suitable system for Taloun road tunnel. In this paper the studies that led to choose the most suitable ventilation system for this long tunnel is presented. For this purpose, different ventilation systems are described. Their behavior during normal and emergency state has been compared and the most suitable system has been selected. Subjected to this matter, the results of a numerical simulation of pollution and aerodynamics are presented as an example. The results of studies performed to determine the behavior of the selected system during fire emergency is presented. And finally, the results of studies to determine the aerodynamic characteristics of selected system are briefly presented.
