Abstract:
Equal-Channel Angular Rolling (ECAR) is a processing method in which a metal is subjected to a severe plastic deformation through simple shear without any considerable change in the cross-sectional dimensions of the sample. ECAR process is classified in Severe Plastic Deformation (SPD) group through which a nanostructure is produced in the polycrystalline materials. In these processes, mechanical properties of material areenhanced by grain refinement. Experimental results through this study show that, mechanical properties of high purity copper improved significantly. For example yield strength has been increased more than twice. Metallurgical examinations show that refining of microstructure has been occurred through this process.
