Abstract:
The predictive capacities of three constitutive models specially developed for soft clays, MCC, S-CLAY1, and SANICLAY, are evaluated here. Detailed formulations ofthe models are presented first. It is shown that the accuracy of predictions obtained from three models is the same for isotropic consolidated samples. For anisotropicallyconsolidated samples, it is observed that predictions by the MCC model are unrealistic. Both S-CLAY1 and SANICLAY can simulate behavior of anisotropicallyconsolidated samples, however predictions of the SANICLAY model are found moresuitable
