Abstract:

Formation of architectural techniques and cultural Identity in architecture are the considerable components in development of society’s culture. Indications of the survey in the constitution of architectural identity specify that, throughout history of architecture these two components are related to one another, and their relationships are perceivable as a close augmentation between architecture and technology of its related time. Although, many architects and practitioners have been experimented with this experience in different regions whose intention was to reveal the cultural background through attribute of architectural techniques and innovations from a global perspective, the lack of innovation on architectural technology by the means of constructing cultural character is still perceivable. Constructing the roots of character by tracking on the rise of architecture technology paves the way for arguments, what happened in the past and comments on the present and future. With this purpose in mind, this paper seeks to demonstrate the augmentation of these two components as a productive feature of cultural identity with reinforcement of contemporary architectural technology. A research library, field observation and survey through documentation are conducted through varieties of sources. The evidence are derived from several architectural design projects, theories and concepts from architects and scholars, whose building design and their researches have been conveying a concrete message about the augmentation of architectural identity through their design techniques. This paper concluded with an overview of the powerful effects of constructional design technique and architecture on regions and quality of society’s cultural identity. Further, a conceptual framework map is developed as a platform for discussion on architectural techniques as the means of originality for cultural identity. The implication of this paper is for those who are interested in constructing cultural identity with the creation of new criteria in design base on contemporary architectural attribute and values of design quality.
