Abstract:

From the many points of view the continued use of existing structures will in many cases be preferable compared to a newinstallation. On the other hands this is needed that structures that not provide standards criteria, is rehabilitated. Emergenceof new modes such as buckling and local buckling should be exactly considered. Also soil- pile- structure interaction effectscan lead to major differences in the structural behavior especially in high amplitude wave or seismic excitation. In thisstudy, applied discussion on the various approaches of structural modeling and their requirements is presented. Both simplelumped mass models and beam-column element model and their applications are presented. Also micro modeling for fatigueanalysis and local studies of stresses are described. These are necessary to assessment and rehabilitation studies of structuresand design as well. The capability of some software such as OpenSees is described.
