Abstract:
The bis-(2-dodecylsulfanyl-ethyl)-amine (SNS) ligand was prepared in good yield and high purity using inexpensive reagents and reacted with CuBr in dry hexane at room temperature. SBA-15 was modified using 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (3-APS). SBA-15-NH2 was used as a solid support for the heterogeneous atom transfer polymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) into poly(methylmethacrylate) (PMMA) using adsorbed CuBr–[Bis-(2- dodecylsulfanyl-ethyl) amine (SNS)] as catalyst. Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) was obtained at 90 °C using the CuBr–SNS supported on SBA-15-NH2 in ATRP condition, demonstrated by relatively low polydispersity index (PDI
