Abstract:

In this paper a new method for PD location in power cable is presented which is based on pattern recognition algorithms with features extracted by employing Mathematical Morphology Gradient Algorithm (MMGA). The main advantages of this method are being on-line and having accurate results for PD location in power cable without any need to use a synchronized data at the two ends of cable. Furthermore, the proposed method is compared with two conventional PD location methods including Time Domain- Based and Amplitude-Frequency methods.
