Abstract:

The legacy of Quaternary as a fundamental principle in morphoclimatic interpretation is the result of severe succession of climatic and erosional processes changes and its environmental and socio - economic impacts in the Quaternary. Due to its location, the Gorgan area is a complex mosaic of intersection of natural and anthropogenic geomorphological features that index of changes of climatic and erosional systems during the Quaternary and archaic periods. In spite of some special uncertainties and paradoxes in Caspian eustatism . the area provides a luminous mirror and key palimpsest for interpretation of paleo events and reconstruction of regional climatic and erosional systems in the middle and upper Quaternary. The Caspian special eustatism , oxidic and humid horizons in soils and deepfront of weathering in rocks , evolution of drainage networks , alternation of aeolian - fluvialmarine sediments , glacial cirque , continental and coastal sand dunes with different shape and composition , playas , loessial materials , and stratified archaic hills (civilization tappeh) are the main geomorphological evidences of the Quaternary climatic relic. In Gorgan area , the intensity and altitudinal and latitudinal domains of climatic and erosional gradients has been fluctuated during the Quaternary . At present, southnorth morphoclimatic gradient along 50 KM from mountain to plain has presented most of the erosional systems and geornorphological landscapes of the northern hemisphere as a dense altitudinal strata and latitudinal belts . In this article, the Quaternary climatic condition of the Gorgan area (specially Qara - su watershed) has reconstructed and mapped according to geomorphological evidences and relic.
